Principals
We bring to our work a deep belief in the ability of community based nonprofit organizations to achieve positive change, to transform lives and improve communities. This belief comes from many years of service as staff and Board members of community based nonprofits. It also comes from living and working in neighborhoods that experienced the fruits of the labor of nonprofit community based organizations and from over 20 years of consulting to community-based nonprofits throughout the US and overseas.

Constant learning is both an obligation and an opportunity for us. We are constantly reading, and attending conferences and workshops to identify promising new approaches to community based nonprofit management and organizational development.

Mark Levine earned his MA in Urban Planning from UCLA. Mark served with the Peace Corps as a Volunteer in Peru, a Regional Director in Honduras and a Trainer and Training Director at the Peace Corps Training Center in Puerto Rico. Mark then served as Executive Director of a nonprofit community based multi service organization in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, MA. Since 1980, Mark has consulted to hundreds of community based nonprofits and a number of funding organizations.

Rita Gonzales Levine, is Mark’s wife as well as his associate in the consulting practice since 1999. Rita earned her Master of Social Work degree from Boston College. Rita worked for over 15 years in community-based nonprofit service organizations in the Boston area. She served as a senior manager with responsibility for program development and supervision and training of direct service personnel. Rita has also served on the Boards of Directors of several community-based organizations. Most recently she served as President of the Board of the Urban Edge Housing Corporation in Boston.

Valued Associates
Mark Levine Associates has built long term working relationships with other consultants and specialists with whom we frequently collaborate. Two of our most valued associates are Rodney Fernandez and Joel Aronson, CPA.

Rodney has been the Executive Director of Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) in Saticoy, CA for over 20 years. CEDC is a highly successful and productive community-based housing development and housing services organization. CEDC’s success is due to its great Board and staff and also to Rodney’s long-term interest in and emphasis on good management and the application of organizational development principles.

Joel Aronson, CPA is a partner in the accounting firm Alexander, Aronson, and Finning and Co., P.C., C.P.A.s, based on Westboro, MA. Joel is a leading expert on nonprofit budgeting and financial management. Joel and Mark have teamed up in serving nonprofit community based clients over a 20 year period, most recently with a focus on business planning.
